Requiem Redux

I feel like they missed a trick when they relaunched this game and didn't call it Requiem: Redux. I won't deny I was dubious about returning to the blog with Requiem . I've wanted to give this game a place in the rotation for a long time, due to it being the only MMO I've spent any length of time in that I hadn't revisited since 2019... but at the same time I remembered Requiem as being a simplistic and nearly plotless grindfest, and I wasn't sure it would hold me for 24 hours of /played time. Nostalgia can only carry a game so far. So I've been pleasantly surprised that not only have I got through my time in Requiem , but I've enjoyed it. The game is a lot like I remembered but it's worked for me despite that, or maybe because of that. More on that in a moment. I simply can't be objective when it comes to this game. 24 Hours In... Fallen Earth

Fallen Earth is a post-apocalypse MMO released in 2009. It's the only MMO I've ever played at launch, and my enjoyment of it at that time was only slightly marred by the fact that my PC could barely run it... at least on the higher graphics settings. I suppose it's one of the advantages of the genre being mostly dominated by older titles, that MMOs tend to be less demanding than current-gen titles. My current PC has no problem running this game on the highest settings. Over the years the game has passed from Icarus Studios – the original developers – to GamersFirst in 2011, and then to Little Orbit in 2018. It's undeniably a niche title, and there have been a couple of times over the years when I've feared that it would shut down, but I think it's in safe hands now. I'm glad of that. "You look like you'd be at home in a jungle." This was far from my first time on Dromund Kaas. Most recently I was there on my Sith Warrior at the end of 2020, and prior to that I've passed through on a number of other characters over the years. Excluding the starter worlds, this is the planet I've spent the most time on in The Old Republic . On my Warrior I took a completist approach and did all the side missions and Heroics on Korriban, Dromund Kaas and Balmorra. On my Bounty Hunter, I've been more selective. I skipped all of the Heroics on Hutta and most of them on Dromund Kaas, and I also passed up on the Cult of Revan side story on the grounds that my Bounty Hunter isn't interested in Sith politics. I've also been selective about which exploration missions I've done. Partly this was to see if my level stayed a little more in sync on subsequent worlds. It didn't, much.
