The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

There's plenty of all three in Star Wars The Old Republic . The Good I've played a Bounty Hunter before, but never previously went further than Dromund Kaas. This time around I've enjoyed the class a lot more while following the three rules I set for this character. 1. Always follow through on a job. 2. If the target is wanted dead or alive, dead is better. 3. If possible, kill the client as well. This has led me to take some really mean spirited options that I've passed up on in the past and I've lost count of the number of times a conversation scene has ended with a blaster shot. It's not dissimilar to my experience on the Sith Warrior, except where she chews the scenery and goes all in on being Evil with a capital E, the Bounty Hunter is much more businesslike and her dry, understated ruthlessness just makes the mayhem more entertaining. Remember who you're talking to...

"You look like you'd be at home in a jungle." This was far from my first time on Dromund Kaas. Most recently I was there on my Sith Warrior at the end of 2020, and prior to that I've passed through on a number of other characters over the years. Excluding the starter worlds, this is the planet I've spent the most time on in The Old Republic . On my Warrior I took a completist approach and did all the side missions and Heroics on Korriban, Dromund Kaas and Balmorra. On my Bounty Hunter, I've been more selective. I skipped all of the Heroics on Hutta and most of them on Dromund Kaas, and I also passed up on the Cult of Revan side story on the grounds that my Bounty Hunter isn't interested in Sith politics. I've also been selective about which exploration missions I've done. Partly this was to see if my level stayed a little more in sync on subsequent worlds. It didn't, much. Not A Bad Scrapper

It's long since been possible to roll any non-epic archetype on either side, but I still think of them as specifically hero or villain archetypes. When City of Villains launched it did so with five new archetypes, and whilst it is possible to see each of these as mirroring one of the hero archetypes it's not quite as simple as that. Certainly the Corruptor and Dominator are redside's equivalent to Defenders and Controllers respectively, albeit with a greater emphasis on damage dealing and a reduction in their support capabilities and team synergy, but it's the others where the match ups are slightly less obvious, and as I've mentioned before there's always been debate about whether Brutes or Masterminds are the Tankers of redside. (The correct answer remains both/neither.)
