24 Hours In... Fallen Earth

Fallen Earth is a post-apocalypse MMO released in 2009. It's the only MMO I've ever played at launch, and my enjoyment of it at that time was only slightly marred by the fact that my PC could barely run it... at least on the higher graphics settings. I suppose it's one of the advantages of the genre being mostly dominated by older titles, that MMOs tend to be less demanding than current-gen titles. My current PC has no problem running this game on the highest settings. Over the years the game has passed from Icarus Studios – the original developers – to GamersFirst in 2011, and then to Little Orbit in 2018. It's undeniably a niche title, and there have been a couple of times over the years when I've feared that it would shut down, but I think it's in safe hands now. I'm glad of that. Requiem Redux

I feel like they missed a trick when they relaunched this game and didn't call it Requiem: Redux. I won't deny I was dubious about returning to the blog with Requiem . I've wanted to give this game a place in the rotation for a long time, due to it being the only MMO I've spent any length of time in that I hadn't revisited since 2019... but at the same time I remembered Requiem as being a simplistic and nearly plotless grindfest, and I wasn't sure it would hold me for 24 hours of /played time. Nostalgia can only carry a game so far. So I've been pleasantly surprised that not only have I got through my time in Requiem , but I've enjoyed it. The game is a lot like I remembered but it's worked for me despite that, or maybe because of that. More on that in a moment. I simply can't be objective when it comes to this game. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

There's plenty of all three in Star Wars The Old Republic . The Good I've played a Bounty Hunter before, but never previously went further than Dromund Kaas. This time around I've enjoyed the class a lot more while following the three rules I set for this character. 1. Always follow through on a job. 2. If the target is wanted dead or alive, dead is better. 3. If possible, kill the client as well. This has led me to take some really mean spirited options that I've passed up on in the past and I've lost count of the number of times a conversation scene has ended with a blaster shot. It's not dissimilar to my experience on the Sith Warrior, except where she chews the scenery and goes all in on being Evil with a capital E, the Bounty Hunter is much more businesslike and her dry, understated ruthlessness just makes the mayhem more entertaining.
