The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

There's plenty of all three in Star Wars The Old Republic . The Good I've played a Bounty Hunter before, but never previously went further than Dromund Kaas. This time around I've enjoyed the class a lot more while following the three rules I set for this character. 1. Always follow through on a job. 2. If the target is wanted dead or alive, dead is better. 3. If possible, kill the client as well. This has led me to take some really mean spirited options that I've passed up on in the past and I've lost count of the number of times a conversation scene has ended with a blaster shot. It's not dissimilar to my experience on the Sith Warrior, except where she chews the scenery and goes all in on being Evil with a capital E, the Bounty Hunter is much more businesslike and her dry, understated ruthlessness just makes the mayhem more entertaining. Role Models

"There's no time to make you a Mandalorian." If The Old Republic was being released today that line would definitely have been cut. It's City of Heroes that refers to its classes as archetypes, but there's surely no game that takes that more literally than The Old Republic. SWTOR doesn't try to hide the fact that several of its classes are based not just on character types but on specific characters, with the Smuggler being the most obvious example - and here's a Wookiee companion just in case you somehow didn't realize this is the Han Solo class. Then there's the Bounty Hunter, aka the Boba Fett. It's a well worn observation that Boba Fett is a weirdly popular character give that he didn't actually do much in The Empire Strikes Back and went out like a schmuck in Return of the Jedi . I suppose being the only thing in the Star Wars Holiday Special that wasn't completely awful counts as a point in his favor, but still... Rarely has...

The Wretched Hive

Scum and villainy etc. Hutta has certain similarities to Ord Mantell, the starter world for the Republic's non force wielding classes, but differs in a few ways that make it the best of The Old Republic's starting experiences. There's an overall story, but the feud between crimelords isn't quite as constantly front and center here as the Separatist storyline is on Ord Mantell. The world can offer up a bit more variety in who you meet and what you do and it's better for it. The lines between good guys and bad guys (or rather bad guys/worse guys) are also blurry enough to adds interest to the conversations and choices you're presented with. Interestingly, you never directly confront Fa'athra, the rival to your prospective patron, Nem'ro, and this adds to the feeling of Hutta being a real place.
